Northwest Nebraska Trails Association Annual Meeting Thursday Night

The Northwest Nebraska Trails Association holds its annual meeting this evening at the Bean Broker Coffee House and Pub. It begins with a social half-hour at 5:30 followed by the meeting at 6:00..

Board President Dr Britt Helmbrecht says the meeting is open to members and non-members alike with the goals of giving hiking and trail enthusiasts a chance to connect while learning about the association’s projects and events.

Helmbrecht says the group is planning to hold more events than in the past and provide “something for everyone” with family hikes, bike rides, trail maintenance days, and other activities.

She says the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association has accomplished much in the past 6 years that she’s excited to see where it can go and what it can accomplish next.

Tonight’s meeting will include an update on the Cowboy Trail Connection, the group’s project to link downtown Chadron to the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail on the old Chicago and NorthWestern railroad line to Norfolk..

Helmbrecht says the association is trying to get more people involved in the decision-making process, and has added new board position that will be elected tonight.

Anyone interested in serving is encouraged to contact the group by Facebook or email at nwnebraskatrails@gmail.com prior to the meeting.

Annual membership dues can be paid at tonight’s meeting or by visiting the group’s website, nwnebraskatrails.com.
