NSAA State Wrestling Gets Underway Today

The NSAA state wrestling championships begin today from the CHI Health Center in Omaha and we will be providing tournament wide coverage all weekend long on KCSR and Chadrad.com. Nineteen wrestlers are representing Northwest Nebraska.

Chadron will have 5 girls wrestling and the boys will have 4 in Class B. Gordon-Rushville is sending 5 in Class C while Hay Springs has 3 and Crawford 2, all in Class D.

The Class A and D session begin the day at 8:30 this morning with five wrestlers competing between Crawford and Hay Springs in first round and quarterfinal matches .

Hay Springs’ Jahrett Anderson will be first to the mat at 113-lbs, followed by teammate Wesley Jacobs and Crawford’s Paden Morava at 138. Crawford’s Colton Mader jumps in at 145 and Anthony Running Hawk of Hay Springs rounds out the lineup at 285.

The afternoon session featuring Class B and C and the girls will get underway at 2:00 pm and Chadron’s Taylee Williamson will bat lead off at 110-lbs. Ashton Dane of Gordon-Rushville will be the first Mustang on the mat at 113-lbs.

Chadron’s Brooklyn Hoffman at 120 and Braden Underwood at 132 follow as well as Gordon-Rushville’s Tucker Banister.

Fia Rasmussen at 135 and Davin Serres at 138 are up next and so is Gordon-Rushville’s Kyler Vincent wrestling at 138.

Chadron’s defending champ Kenli Boeselager jumps in at 145-lbs and then comes Quinn Bailey and Gordon-Rushville’s Jace Freeseman at 152. Addie Diers rounds out the Chadron girls lineup at 155-lbs.

Chadron’s Rhett Cullers at 170-lbs and Gordon-Rushville’s Curtis Rittgarn close out the area wrestlers through the first round of matches.
