Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol made 31 arrests for driving under the influence during the first weekend of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over effort. The campaign runs through Labor Day weekend.
โImpaired driving is preventable,โ said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. โBy making the decision to never drive impaired, youโre preventing potential tragedies on the roads and youโre preventing a potential DUI arrest. Plan ahead to help keep our roads safe and always drive sober.โ
โAs summer travel comes to a close, we have several major travel events in the next couple weeks, including the State Fair and the start of the Husker Football season,โ said Colonel Bolduc. โWhether youโre traveling across the state or just across town, always make sure you have a sober driver.โ
In 2023, the first week of the campaign included 7 impaired driver arrests and 26 citations for speeding of 90mph or more. The 2024 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign began on August 14 and continues through September 2. Troopers are working overtime throughout the effort thanks to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation โ Highway Safety Office.
