Chadron State College sophomore defensive lineman Hunter O’Connor added an All-America selection to his growing list of distinctions on Monday, when the American Football Coaches Association released its annual First and Second Team All-America lists.

O’Connor, who was previously named All-Region by D2CCA and All-RMAC First Team, was placed on the All-America Second Team by the football head coaches.

The Broomfield, Colorado, native recorded 16 sacks this past season, ranking him as the national statistical runner-up in NCAA Division II for the regular season. That figure broke the CSC single-season sack record held by Casey Beran and Scott Dolfi. He was fourth in tackles for loss with 24.0. O’Connor, whose final five games of the season accounted for approximately 75 percent of his total stats, also tied for second on the team with 60 total tackles.

O’Connor becomes CSC’s 61st All-America recipient in football program history, and its first defensive lineman to earn such honors since 2006.
