The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is urging anyone who hasn’t received a flu shot to do so because of recent increases in influenza activity.
The department says based on lab test results, the predominant subtypes detected in Nebraska at this time are influenza A (H1N1), influenza A (H3N2), and influenza B Victoria lineage.
The Health Alert Network, part of the CDC, says last flu season saw a decline in the number of Nebraskans and Americans receiving flu shots in the last flu season.Â
49.3% of Americans ages 6 months and older received a flu shot last season, down 2.1 points while the Nebraska rate was down 3.5 points at 51.1%.
