The spread of COVID-19 in the Panhandle has slowed to a crawl. Panhandle Unified Command says the region had just 16 new cases the past week – 6 in Box Butte County, 5 in Scotts Bluff, 3 in Kimball, and 1 each in Garden and Morrill.
The Panhandle Public Health District COVID-19 Risk Dial, though, rose from just on the line between the low or green category and the yellow or moderate range to a little over 10% into the yellow with the risk level at 1.13.
Statewide, Nebraska Health and Human Services reported just 30 new cases of COVID-19 and no deaths Wednesday morning with 69 hospitalized cases. Nebraska has had 223,434 COVID cases and 2,249 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Nebraska has distributed over 1.694-million doses of vaccine with 49% of all residents having at least one shot and 43.1% or nearly 821,000 individuals now fully vaccinated.
