Patricia Garner

Patricia Marie Garner passed away August 19, 2024 at the age of 95. She was born on March 17, 1929 in rural Sioux County, Nebraska to Jess Christian and Kathryn Doyle Eberspecher.   She was the oldest of eight children. She attended grade school at Bodarc District #6, the same country school where 7 of her grandchildren attended in later years. She graduated from Sioux County High School in 1947. She taught school at District 46 for 1 year after high school and then married Alan “Pat” Holmgren on November 8th, 1948. To this union 4 children were born, Charles, Kathryn, Chris and Casey. Their first home was on the Doc Watson ranch where they weathered the ’49 Blizzard. In the following years they worked for other area ranchers and in 1956 they moved to Fort Robinson where Alan was employed by the USDA Beef Research Station. Patricia loved raising their kids there and made many lifelong friends. In 1964 they leased land northwest of Crawford and moved there and ranched on their own. 

In 1971 Alan & Patricia suffered the loss of their son Chris Holmgren who was just 16 years old. 

She loved playing cards, hosting family get togethers, spending time with grandkids, taking walks, and was a faithful member of the St John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She married Jack Garner on November 30, 1989 and they made their home in Lusk, Wyoming.  They enjoyed traveling, dancing, hosting friends and playing cards. Jack passed away on March 17, 2024 in Lusk, WY.

She is survived by her children Chuck (Donna) Holmgren of Harrison, NE; Kathryn Holmgren of Cheyenne, WY; Casey (Amy) Holmgren of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Sara (Darby) Paxton, Stuart, NE; Kristi Holmgren, Bennet, NE; Jess (Stacy) Holmgren, Harrison, NE; Sam (Cassie) Holmgren, Crawford, NE; Travis Wickersham, Des Moines, IA; Miles (Emily) Wickersham, St Joseph, MO; Eric Wickersham, Lincoln, NE; Ryan Holmgren, Boley, OK; Hayley (Taylor) Hall, Fayetteville, Arkansas; Shannon Fickel, Gillette, WY; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. 

She is also survived by sister Evelyn (Monte) Carland, Cheyenne, WY; brother Edward “Spike” (Peggy) Eberspecher, Scottsbluff, NE; sisters-in-law Becky Smith, Mission, SD; Mavis Eberspecher, Mitchell, NE and many nieces & nephews. Stepchildren Jackie (Kenny) Lewis, Elizabeth, CO; Ruthe (Ron), Meter, Lyons, NE; Theresa (Alan) Hummel, Fort Collins, CO.Services will be Saturday, September 21, 2024 @ St Leo’s Catholic Church in Lusk, WY at 10:30 AM.
