Pauline Her Many Horses

Pauline Marie Her Many Horses was born on July 7, 1942, in Crawford, NE to David and Ellen (Spotted Elk) Garnier.  Pauline made her journey to the Spirit World on May 23, 2026, at the age of 83, at the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home Memory Care Unit near Pine Ridge.

Pauline enjoyed traveling, especially to Cheyenne, Torrington, and Wisconsin. She treasured the time she spent visiting with her family and friends and always enjoyed being surrounded by the people she loved.

Pauline is survived by her son, Curtis (Liz) Spotted Elk; her sister, Susan Tail; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and loved ones.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ellen (Spotted Elk) Garnier; her brothers and sisters, Dirk Garnier, Effie Andrews, Naomi Garnier, Madline Terry, Louise Jumping Eagle, and Christine Wheeler; her husband, Bill Her Many Horses; and her children, Phyllis Garneaux, Moria Ward, and Phillip Ward.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nieces, Carmel Garnier and Vicky Jumping Eagle, and to the staff of the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home Memory Care Unit, especially Barb and Michelle, for the care and kindness shown to Pauline.

Pauline was very special to all who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished, and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation Services: Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM, Monday, June 1, 2026 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall near Oglala, SD.

Funeral Services:  12:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2026 at the Makasan Presbyterian Church Hall near Oglala, SD with a meal to follow the services. Cremation will take place following the services, and a memorial service honoring her life and memory will be held at a later date.
