The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 38-year old man died Wednesday evening of injuries suffered when he was hit by a car while in a crosswalk in Deadwood. Names have not been released.

The Patrol says the man was crossing Hwy 16A at Main Street about 6:20 pm when he was hit by a westbound car on the far side of the intersection. He was flown to Monument Health Rapid City by Life Flight, but died later in the evening of his injuries.

The 26-year woman driving the car was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. Charges are pending against her. The Highway Patrol says speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
