Funeral services for 37-year old Petan Milk are Thurs, Sept 1, 2022 at 2:00 at the T&T Center in Wanblee, SD, with Rev John Willard, Lay Minister Johnny Wilson, and Lay Rita Brown officiating with traditional Lakota services by Gillie Running and Russell Eagle Bear

Burial is at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church Cemetery in Wanblee.

A two-night wake service begins Tuesday, August 30, at noon at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Norris, SD. The second night starts Wed at noon at the T&T Center in Wanblee.

Petan Chante Duane Milk was born on August 6, 1985 in Pine Ridge, SD to Curtis Milk Sr and Darlene (Wounded Shield) Milk.  Petan made his journey to the Spirit World on August 20, 2022 in Rapid City, SD.

Petan is survived by his parents, Curtis Milk Sr and Darlene Wounded Shield-Milk; brothers Wiconi (Victoria) Milk, Wicahpe Milk, Wiyaka Milk, Curtis Milk Jr, and Wakinyan Milk; sister Wiluta Milk; son Nickolas Little Thunder; daughter Laresse Spotted Elk; uncles Duane S (Cindy) Milk, Orville Milk, Dennis Wounded Shield, and Charles Wounded Shield; grandmother Sandra Iron Shell & Family; and numerous nieces & nephews.   

Petan was preceded in death by his grandparents Jasper & Bernice Milk, Theresa & Perry Wounded Shield; uncles Irving Milk, Samuel Milk, Daryl Wounded Shield, and Eddie Wounded Shield; and aunts Gwendolyn Wounded Shield, Carol Wounded Shield, and Hildreth Milk.

Pallbearers will be Wiconi Milk, Wicahpe Milk, Curtis Milk, Jr., Nickolas Little Thunder, Robert “Eric” Adams, Jevon Causey, Colin Wilcox, Lucas Little Bull, Chance Milk, and Akisa Milk. 

Honorary pallbearers will be all Family, Friends, & Relatives.
