Former Nebraska Governor Pete Rickets has been elected to the United States Senate according to the Associated Press.
Rickets served as Governor for the state of Nebraska for two terms from 2013-2021. He was then appointed by current Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen on January 13th of 2023 to take over the seat left by Ben Sasse after he resigned to take a position with the University of Florida. Rickets defeated democrat Preston Love in the special election.
The race for the other senate seat between D-Dan Osborn and R-Deb Fischer is still too close to call at this time.ย
