Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has named a Missouri administrator as the new director of Children and Family Services for the Department of Health and Human Services
Dr Alyssa Bish will start on Dec 28th as the successor to Stephanie Beasley, who served 2 years but was not reappointed when Pillen took office in January.
Pillen said at the time he wanted a CFS division director “who will improve the level of services” provided.
In naming Bish to the post, the governor said she’s had first-hand experience and success in Missouri while bringing a “passion for helping children and families through difficult times.”
A Nebraska native and graduate of Wayne State College with a Doctorate in Communication, Bish has spent the past 2 years in the Missouri Division of Personnel.
She began as Director of Talent Development, was promoted 6 months later to Director of Strategy and Leadership Development, and then this past February became head of the entire Personnel Division.
Before that, Bish worked in the Children’s Division of the Missouri Dept of Social Services, where she focused on initiatives to improve the quality of foster care services and reduce a backlog of cases.
Nebraska Health and Human Services CEO Steve Corsi, a recent appointee himself, says he’s “grateful” Bish has agreed to return home to Nebraska and bring her wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Children and Family Services Division.
Well she has ALOT OF WORK TO DO! As it stands our system does a HUGE disservice to children and families.
