Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen is down to the last 2 days of his trade mission to South Korea and Japan.
The delegation arrived in Seoul last Tuesday and leaves for home from Tokyo tomorrow.
Pillen and the delegation are promoting Nebraska agriculture and discussing opportunities to enhance collaboration and partnerships in East Asia to grow Nebraska’s clean hydrogen sector.
Traveling with the governor are representatives from the state departments of Agriculture and Economic Development, state commodity organizations, ag businesses, and energy companies.
South Korea is Nebraska’s top international market for beef, purchasing $584 million dollars worth of beef last year – more than from any other state.
Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue, part of the delegation, says among the “interesting things” he’s learned on the trip is that people in South Korea.are eating more meat and less rice.
McHargue says it “opens a world of opportunity” for Nebraska in terms of what beef producers can export there
