Jim Pillen, one of the 3 frontrunners in the Republican primary for governor of Nebraska, has picked career prosecutor Joe Kelly as his campaign running mate.
Pillen, a University of Nebraska Regent. announced his choice of Kelly for the ticket at the Nebraska Capitol Tuesday morning..
Kelly had been the criminal bureau chief in the Nebraska attorney general’s office the last two years, but began an indefinite period of unpaid leave last Friday.
Before that, he was U-S Attorney for Nebraska under President Donald Trump and before that the Lancaster County attorney.
Pillen, an ag producer and veterinarian, says he chose Kelly because he is a reliable and conservative leader in law enforcement.
