Pine Ridge Man Faces Drug, Gun Charges After Box Butte Co Traffic Stop

Loading

A Pine Ridge Reservation man is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Box Butte County Court on multiple drug and weapons charges following a routine traffic stop last week on Highway 385 in Box Butte County.

30-year old Dakota Young of Pine Ridge is charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute; Possession of a Firearm During a Drug Violation; Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony; and Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

Court records show a Nebraska State Patrol Trooper pulled over Young for a defective tail light. A search of his vehicle ultimately found more than 13 grams of cocaine, a defaced firearm, a pound of marijauna, and THC wax.

The court documents show Young told the trooper he bought the drugs in Denver and was planning to sell them on the reservation.
