The Wyoming Type III Interagency Incident Management Team has reported that the Pleasant Valley Fire, which has been burning about a mile north of Guernsey, WY since late last month, is now at 100% containment at 28,984 acres.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, the Haystack Fire which collided with the Pleasant Valley fire, is believed to have been started by a lightning strike.
Yesterday, crews continued to mop up heat and smoke in addition to increasing containment. Crews also began the process of rehabilitation, starting with areas disturbed during indirect fire suppression efforts.
Remaining crews will continue to mop up and rehabilitate indirect fire line. Over the coming days, the Wyoming Type 3 IMT will transition to patrol status led by local departments.
