Police in Omaha say they found a “hit list” at the home of a Nebraska man shot and killed by officers in western Iowa early in the morning of July 8th after a series of incidents in the two states that included a homicide.

41-year old Matthew Briggs was fatally wounded in a confrontation with officers from states after a pursuit ended in Briggs crashing a stolen car.

Authorities say when detectives searched his home in Papillion after his death they found a list that included the name of 52-year-old Steven Donsbach, the man whose body was found the day Briggs was killed, and the names of 2 of Briggs’ ex-girlfriends.

The first 2 incidents that eventually led to his death also involved ex-girlfriends – breaking into the of one and assaulting her and driving his car through the garage door of another.

The two officers, one from Omaha and the other from Council Bluffs, who said they shot Briggs after he pointed a gun at him have been placed on paid leave pending an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
