Portion Of Omaha Street To Be Named For Marine Killed In Afghan Bombing

A street in southwest Omaha is going to be renamed for a Marine from Nebraska killed in last August’s suicide bombing in Afghanistan at the Kabul airport.

The Sarpy County Commissioners unanimously approved naming a segment of Gertrude Street south of the Millard community for Marine Corporal Daegan Page.

Page grew up in Omaha after his family moved there when he was 5. He enlisted in the Marines in 2017 after high school and was deployed to numerous locations before his final deployment to Afghanistan.

Page was one of 13 U-S service members killed in the August 26 bombing while providing security at the airport during the evacuation from Afghanistan.
