NPPD REPORTED AT 10:30 THAT POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED IN CHADRON
Electricity is out in much of Chadron with no estimate from Nebraska Public Power District on when it will be restored.
NPPD spokesman Grant Otten says nearly 2,000 customers lost power about 8:50 am when lightning struck a piece of equipment.
Otten says crews have working hard to restore service, but without a firm estimate on when that will happen.
An email sent to customers at 9:17 put the restoration estimate at 1:00 PM, but a second email 7 minutes later gave no specific time.
Because of the outage, Chadron Public Schools released at 10:00 and Closer to Home says it will not be serving today.
