History is a word that gets thrown around a lot in sports. Every game, every moment is history in one way or another. But what goes in record books, what gets enshrined on hallways in schools and in memories of those who witness it is reserved for select moments. This afternoon Quinn Bailey, who has already put his stamp on Chadron High sports history has his opportunity to become one of one. The opportunity to become the first three time state champion in Chadron High history.

February of 2024, he became the fourth two time state champion in school history joining Damon Tyree who won titles in 1981 and 1983, Tucker Thompson who won back to back titles in 1986 and 1987 then most recently Wil Brown who won titles in 2009 and 2010.

Bailey won his first title in 2023, taking the class B 152 pound class, in thrilling fashion. Defeating Garrett Rine from Waverly in sudden victory, overtime if you are not familiar with wrestling. 2024 he capped off an undefeated season, 51-0 record by pinning his opponent just shy of the end of the second period.

2025 has been a wild season for Bailey, who started it off in the toughest tournament in the nation, going 1-2 with that one win being against the only competitor from the state of Nebraska he wrestled in that tournament, he hasnโ€™t lost since that day.

Today he takes a 43-2 record this season, 191-11 career record into his final match. Wearing the other leg band is the number two ranked wrestler in Class C at 157 pounds James Kansteiner from Conestoga, Bailey in the top ranked. Kansteiner brings in a 47-1 record in his junior year but only won his semifinal over the third ranked wrestler in the class 11-8.ย

History is on the line today at CHI Health Center in downtown Omaha. No other athlete has done what Bailey has done at Chadron High and today he has a shot at putting one last stamp on the record books.

The match will happen at just after 2pm Saturday afternoon and will be aired live on KCSR and KBPY.
