Rachel Annie Chief Eagle-Catches was born on May 5, 1937 in No Water Community near Oglala, SD to Phillip Chief Eagle and Sophie Kate Brown Ear Horse. Rachel made her journey to the Spirit World on December 5, 2024 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.
Rachel is survived by son, Petaga Catches; grandchildren, TJ Elk Boy, Tanya Elk Boy, Dallas Tobacco, Legend Tobacco, Essence Tobacco, Larietta Two Bull, and April Catches; sister, Ella Coleman; niece, Carol Wounded; and cousin, Delmar Dreaming Bear.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Chief Eagle & Sophie Kate Brown Ear Horse; brother, Joseph Chief Eagle; sister, Bertha White Bull; son, Phillip Elk Boy, Jr.; daughter, Angelina Red Cloud; grandsons, Michael Tobacco, and Dusty Louis Tobacco; and cousin, Calvert Dreaming Bear.
