RaeAnn Tall-Eagle Bear “Tasunke Wakinya Win” was born on May 13, 1990 in Pine Ridge SD to Joann Tall and Russell Eagle Bear.  RaeAnn made her journey on March 31, 2024 in Denver, CO.

RaeAnn leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her family and community.  A devoted mother of four, she never stopped loving her children.

Rae thrived as a young professional, creating materials and translating complicated western economic models into Lakota concepts based on our cultural values and teachings.

Rae was brilliant. You couldn’t help but join her laughter and silliness as she lit up the office. Rae’s love of music was rivaled only by the love she had for her friends. RaeAnn’s poetry and charcoal sketches were windows to the depths of her soul.

May her memory inspire joy and kindness.  Rest in peace our dear RaeAnn.

RaeAnn is survived by her parents Russell Eagle Bear and Joann Tall; her children Malachi, Anthony, Lilianah, and Jeremiah Bentley; brothers Ashley Battese, Flint Tall, Nick Tilsen, Mark K Tilsen, Gerald Eagle Bear, Russell Eagle Bear III, and Gilbert Morrison; sisters Kimberly Tilsen-Brave Heart, Vikki Eagle Bear, Melissa Eagle Bear, and Danaj.

RaeAnn was preceded in death by her baby son Riley and brother Eli Battese.

Pallbearers are Torrie Yellow Cloud, Ailine Clown Horse-Maea, Whitney Smith, Angel Catch The Bear, Lance Fraizer, Bianca Jealous of Him, and Averia Fast Horse.

Honorary Pallbearers are all friends and family.
