Rams One Win Away From State Tourney

The Crawford Lady Rams advanced to the District Finals with a win over Hyannis Thursday and will face number three Wynot Feb. 23 for a shot at the State Basketball Tournament. The Rams are seeded 14 in the District tourney.

Crawford improved to 16-8 after two wins in the D2 Sub-District tournament this week.

The Rams faced off with Hyannis Thursday in the tournament finals, taking a slim 7-5 lead after one quarter but pulled away in the second enroute to a 42-20 victory. Crawford put together an 18-3 run in the second to take control of the game and never looked back, outscoring the Longhorns 17-12 in the second half. Stats for the game are not available.

In the opening round of sub-district action Tuesday, Crawford held on for a close 36-31 win over Mullen. The Rams led 13-11 after one quarter in that contest and were up 20-13 at halftime. Mullen attempted a come-back after the break, using a 13-9 run in the third to make it 29-26 in favor of Crawford. The final quarter saw the Rams use a 7-5 run to keep the edge. Brittney Klein scored 16 points for the Rams against Mullen, and Sage Dyer led Crawford’s rebounding efforts with 10.
