A big third quarter pushed the Crawford Rams past the Sioux County Warriors Tuesday after a slow first half by both teams.

Crawford used a 20-point third quarter to get a 43-22 win over the Warriors after leading 6-3 in the first quarter. Shooting on both ends of the floor continued to be lackluster in the second, when the Rams edged Sioux County with a 9-4 run for a 15-7 score at half-time. The Rams hit five three-pointers in the third quarter to outpace the Warriors, who added just five points to the scoreboard. Sioux County finally saw double digits in the fourth with  a 10-8 run over Crawford, but it was too late to change the outcome.

Taylor Homan led the Rams with 13 points, followed by Cyrus Walker with 10. Carter Rudloff added nine for the Rams, while Ty Brady contributed six, including two of the five third-quarter treys. Rhett Flack scored three and Abi Munoz added two for Crawford.

Shane Gluth had nine points to lead Sioux County. William Skavdahl added four, while Jack Hunter and Cy Hughson netted three each. Josh Perez added two points, and Colton Randall had a single free throw in the books.

Sioux County was also in action Thursday against Guernsey-Sunrise, dropping the heartbreaker by a margin of five. The Warriors attempted a come-from-behind feat but fell short, 39-34. Guernsey-Sunrise led 14-2 after one quarter, but Sioux County rallied in the second with a 14-4 run to trail 18-16 at half-time. Guernsey-Sunrise inched ahead by four after the third quarter with a 9-7 run and outpaced the Warriors 12-11 to hold them off and take the win.

Cy Hughson led Sioux County’s effort with 12 points. Jack Hunter and Colton Randall each added eight, while William Skavdahl netted four and Shane Gluth had two.
