Randy Paul Turman was born on New Year’s Day in 1957. He was the third child of James and Wilma Turman. God took him into his arms on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Randy attended Hay Springs High School, and then Chadron State College for a time. He met the love of his life, Betty Bush, in high school and they married January 3, 1976. In 1976 they welcomed their first son Ryan and two years later welcomed son Jeff. As a family they made their home in Hay Springs where Randy remained active in the community he loved. Randy sat on the City Council for 12 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was most proud to have served his community as an EMT on the Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department for 47 years, numerous years as Fire Chief. Randy worked for Westco for 33 years as the Northern Petroleum Manager. He had a love for the outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping. Randy, especially, loved his time spent with his sons, and grandchildren, and was never short on stories or jokes. He treasured being called Papa. His kind heart and generous spirit will be forever remembered.
Randy is survived by his wife Betty; son, Ryan (Anna) Turman, Reese, Peyton and Bryce of Elkhorn, NE; son, Jeff (Steph), Jacey and Rylee of Chadron, NE; brothers, Rick (Karen) of Alliance, NE, and Jerry (DeeDee) of Chadron, NE; sister, Laurie(Tim) McCabe of Gurley, NE; brother-in-law, Earl (Betty) Bush of Alliance, NE; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Bush of Alliance, NE, and Arvilla Bush of Barr Nunn, WY; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.
Randy asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Dept., CARE, or Circle of Light.
