The #12 ranked Regis Rangers defeated the Chadron State volleyball team in four sets in Denver, Colorado Saturday afternoon, winning 20-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-16.
CSC falls to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in RMAC play.
The Eagles fell behind 3-0 in set one before taking the lead 5-3 after a 5-0 scoring run. The Eagles extended their lead to 11-4 and scored five of the last seven points of the set.
The Rangers led the entirety of the other three sets except briefly in set four.
Chadron State joins CSU-Pueblo as the only RMAC team to defeat the Rangers in a set this season.
Alexia Hurtado, a graduate student from Aurora, Colorado, led the Eagles with 12 kills and an attack percentage of .300. Mayson Fago and Bella Adams each added seven kills while Kally Kirkwood, a freshman from Fleming, Colorado recorded six and hit .294.
Kendyl Kirkwood, a junior from Fleming had a team high 20 assists while Rylee Ward, a sophomore from La Grange, Wyoming recorded 12.
A junior from Provo, Utah, Alondra Hernandez led the Eagles with 12 digs. Hurtado and Kendyl Kirkwood each added seven.
Hurtado led the team with 1.5 blocks. Aiyana Fujiyama, a junior from Wahiawa, Hawaii and Adams, a sophomore from Pueblo, Colorado each had one.
The Eagles return home for matchups against CSU-Pueblo on Thursday and Adams State on Saturday. Both begin at 6 p.m.
