Rapid City Mayor Tests Positive For COVID

    Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender says he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The former Rapid City police chief made the announcement Monday, saying he’d begun having symptoms Sunday and was tested Monday morning.

      Mayor Allender said the exposure occurred last week at a family event and that he is experiencing mild symptoms.

      Allender plans to be out of the office all week, or most of it, and did not attend Tuesday’s City Council meeting, which was chaired by Council President Lance Lehmann
