Rapid City Teen Misses The Cut In NBC’s The Voice

Loading

Rapid City teenager Rowan Grace failed to make the cut to the round of 8 last night on the NBC-TV show The Voice.

The Central High School student was in the bottom 3 of the fan voting after Monday’s performance show when she sang the fan-chosen “I Love You” by Billie Eillish.

That put her in the Instant Save vote in last night’s reveal show against Kique and Kim Kruse. Grace sang Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, but the save went to Kruse – making the Pride of Rapid City the first member of Team Blake to be eliminated.

Grace had been close to elimination before. She lost in the 3-way knockouts, but coach Blake Shelton stepped and stole her for his team. She was also his coach’s save on her in the first live round.

Shelton again had high praise for Grace after her Instant Save performance, saying “Every time she gets on stage it is like watching a Grammy-type performance. She performed that song as if she wrote it. Those are the kinds of songs she shines on.”

During her final moments on the show last night, Grace told Shelton “I love working with you so much and you’ve helped me grow so much as an artist, I appreciate you so much. Just thank you for everything, really — I can’t say thank you enough.”

Grace had originally been chosen by another captain, Shelton’s wife Gwen Stefani, and she expressed her appreciation last night, saying “thank you so much for being my coach most of the time. I love you so much. I’m so grateful for you both.”
