United Way of Western Nebraska is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 8th Annual United Way Color Dash 5K, set for June 20, 2026, in Sidney with the dash beginning at 8 am. This vibrant, family-friendly event invites runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to take part in a one-of-a-kind, color-filled experience.

After a one-year hiatus, the Color Dash returns—this time hosted in Sidney. The non-competitive 5K will begin and end on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC), guiding participants along a scenic route through Deadwood.

Throughout the course, participants will pass through interactive “Splash Stations,” where volunteers toss brightly colored, cornstarch-based powder into the air, transforming runners into a moving rainbow. The powder is non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe for all ages. In addition to the color stations, spectators are encouraged to join in the excitement along the route, with opportunities to purchase color packets to toss at participants as they pass.
The celebration continues at the finish line with a high-energy color dance party, complete with a live DJ providing music and entertainment for all to enjoy.

As a non-competitive run or walk, the Color Dash welcomes everyone—from seasoned runners to first-time participants, families, and community groups. The event emphasizes fun, fitness, and community spirit over speed or competition.

Registration is now open, and organizers encourage early sign-up to secure a spot. As a special incentive, the first 100 finishers will receive a custom finisher medal.
