Investigators say human remains found in the Palisades Reservoir on the Wyoming-Idaho state line are those of a kayaker who drowned in a Wyoming river over a quarter-century ago.
24-year-old Kyle Martin was kayaking on the Hoback River in 1995 when a companion lost his paddle. Martin went ahead and was never seen alive again.
Relatives and sheriff’s officials briefly saw Martin’s body a couple days later after a helicopter dislodged his kayak from a snag, but they couldn’t recover it.
DNA testing recently confirmed that the remains found in the reservoir are Martin’s and Teton County sheriff’s officials notified his family.
