A resident of Mumbai, India, is in the Box Butte County Jail in Alliance on a charge of motor vehicle homicide following a fatal traffic accident Saturday afternoon near Hemingford at the junction of Hwy 385 and Link 7E.
      The Nebraska State Patrol says 55-year old Hayesh Desai ran a stop sign and hit a motorcycle ridden by 77-year old Kirby Schimmels of Houston, Texas, a little after noon on Saturday.Â
Schimmels was taken by ambulance to Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, where he was pronounced dead.
       The Patrol says Schimmels was northbound when Desai failed to stop at the stop sign at the junction about 5-miles east of Hemingford.
