Chadron State College track and field thrower Daniel Reynolds was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, in the inaugural weekly release of the season for the sport on Wednesday at RMACSports.org.
Reynolds now owns the No. 1 weight throw in NCAA Division II, and the No. 3 mark among all collegiate athletes, with a heave of 20.51 meters, or 67 feet, 3.5 inches at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Open. His throw leads the No. 2 thrower in NCAA Division II by three and a half feet, and sets a new CSC record, after his previous record also broke a 20-year-old RMAC meet record last season.
He won both the weight throw and the shot put at the Spearfish meet, with his fifth-best indoor mark in the shot at 15.51 meters, or 50 feet, 10 inches.
The RMAC Indoor Men’s Track Athlete of the Week was Adams State’s Awet Beraki, who had a strong showing in the 5,000 meter run.
