Graveside services with military honors for 85-year old Richard “Dick” Chizek are Wed, March 27, 2024 at 1:00 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE, with Father Todd Phillipsen officiating.

Richard Harold “Dick” Chizek was born on Jan 21, 1939, in Chadron to Thomas and Marvel Chizek, the fifth of six children. He passed away on March 20, 2024, at his home in Chadron surrounded by his loving family.

Dick graduated from Chadron High School in 1957 and served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Department of Defense. Dick worked on the HAWK Missile Systems from 1962 to 1966. 

From 1966 to 1992 he worked with the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Division. During that time, Dick was united in marriage to his loving wife Sandi on August 16, 1975. They combined their families to include two daughters and two sons.

In 1992, Dick and Sandi moved to Ketchikan, AK, where he worked for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division until 1994, when he retired from the Civil Service.

Dick and Sandi found their first retirement home in Lovell, Wyo, where he could enjoy all the outdoor sports he loved. They enjoyed gardening and their many friends in this small friendly community.

In 2017 Dick and Sandi moved back to Chadron, NE to be closer to his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in his shop and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Marie Booker of Barstow, CA and his brother Don Chizek of Selina, OH. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandi and his daughter Brenda.
