Robert Kenneth Lacota Sr “Kangi Watakpy” (Charging Crow) was born on September 16, 1946 in Pine Ridge, SD to Leon and Ida (Water) Lakota. Robert made his journey to the Spirit World on June 12, 2023 in Denver, CO.

Robert was a veteran, who served his country in the U-S Army and was a descendant of Chief Calico.

He owned two businesses, Pest Control and Arborist (Tree Service), and attended the University of Dallas.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In his spare time, you could find him playing Uno with his son Tony and grandson Marcus, enjoying a home cooked meal from his daughter, engaging in conversation with his son Robert II, or hanging out at Big Bat’s drinking coffee with his buddies.

Robert loved to travel to and from Cheyenne Creek, SD to Denver, CO.

He was loving and caring, a good family man, and a good friend who was always lending a helping hand. He was a jokester and called everyone “Jim”.

Our father, cousin, grandpa, and great-grandpa will be greatly missed by many.

Robert is survived by his 3 children Rebeca Lacota (Raymond James), Robert Lacota II (Felisha Bautista) and Anthony “Tony” Lacota (Suzanne Freyta); and grandchildren Derhae Lacota, Marcus Lacota, Serena Lacota and Summer Aguirre.

Robert had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren – too numerous to mention all by name, but he was especially fond of Tyrus Hollow Horn and Donte and Kaydence Ida Carpio.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Leon Sr and Ida (Water) Lakota; sister Maxine Lakota; and brothers Leon Lakota Jr and Zachary Lakota.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Lacota, Teton Lakota (US Army), Michael Patton, Jacob Herman (US Army), Derek Carpio, Zachary Herman, Jannety Lakota and John Carpio.
