Robert Tvrs – UPDATE

Memorial services for 68-year old Robert Tvrs of Chadron, NE, are Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs, NE.

Robert Charles Tvrs was born on February 9, 1957 at Camp Hanford Hospital in Richland, Washington. He rode his Harley to heaven on March 14, 2023. 

Robert was the first-born to Richard J Tvrs and Frances (Whitney) Tvrs.  Shortly after his birth, the Family moved to Santee, CA, where Robert grew up along with his two younger sisters: Teresa (Terry) and Jane. 

Robert was very active in Boy Scouts and the family made many lifelong friends.  The family spent most of every summer camping at San Elijo State Beach and Carlsbad State Beach in San Diego with friends. 

Robert graduated from Santana High School in Santee in 1975 and joined the Air Force shortly after graduation.  After serving his country, he became a long-haul truck driver for many years. 

On August 2, 1991 Robert married the love of his life, Jan Ellen Sutherland, and became a dad to Benjamin, Lacey and Mischelle.

Family was important to Robert and he wanted to be home with Jan and the children, so he sold his truck and worked the rest of his life in construction and mechanic positions. He was always highly respected for his hard work ethic and the ability to fix literally anything.  

During their marriage, Jan and Robert lived in Denver and Chadron before eventually settling down in Tioga, TX.  Robert loved to ride his Harley Davidson with Jan, her brothers, and many other friends. He also loved spoiling his grandchildren Zane, Emma , Roger, Lizzy  and Samantha.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Richard  J Tvrs; half-sister Sandra Moore of Fullerton, NE; and niece Beth Ann Gordon and nephew Lewis Gordon III of Virginia Beach, VA.

He is survived by his mother Frances Whitney of Chadron; wife Jan Sutherland Tvrs of Tioga;  daughter Lacey Covey(Johnny) of Hemingford, NE; daughter Mischelle Little (Jody) of Denison, TX; son Benjamin of Oregon; sister Teresa Tvrs James of Escondido, Ca; sister Jane Gordon (Lewis II)  of Virginia Beach, VA; niece Whitney James Plotkin(Casey) of Riverside, CA; nephew Nicholas James (Fernanda) of Escondido, CA; and many cousins.

Chamberlain Chapel is in charge of arrangements for Robert Tvrs
