Funeral services for 52-year old Romaine Sitting Bear are Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle, SD, with Lay Minister Mona Vocu officiating.
A one-night wake starts Sunday, March 3, at 2:00 at the Little Wound House of Prayer in Kyle.
Burial is at the Porcupine Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Porcupine, SD.

Romaine Sitting Bear was born on Dec 3, 1971 in Kyle, SD to Eugene Sitting Bear and Mary (Jealous of Him) Sitting Bear. Romaine made her journey to the Spirit World on Feb 21, 2024 at her home in Kyle, SD.
Romaine lived her life in the Little Wound area and went to school at Little Wound School. She worked at many places and did a lot of jobs where she received on-the-job training as she worked. Out of all of the jobs she had, the one she loved the most was being a blackjack dealer.
Romaine earned a small business certificate from Lakota Fund to start a star quilt business and she produced some of the most amazing quilts. She always said, “Live your life to the fullest every day, because it’s too short.”
Romaine is survived by her children Oliver (Tammy)Brown Bull, Scott (Nadene) Brown Bull, Ralph Sitting Bear, Jessica Sitting Bear, and Keith Kelly; grandchildren Carol Ann, Sienna, and Scarlett Brown Bull, Tryone Yellow Wolf, and Takoma Shae; brothers Jeffrey Sitting Bear Sr, Chris Sitting Bear, and Chester Sitting Bear; sisters Velnita (Cleveland) Shot With Arrow, Marlene (Louis) Little Whiteman, Shirley Sitting Bear, Elaine J Janis, and Phinette (Stanley Jr) Little Whiteman; aunts & uncle Leona Eagle Heart and Rick & Ethleen Two Dogs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Romaine was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Mary (Jealous of Him) Sitting Bear; paternal grandparents Thomas & Alice (Bear Robe) Sitting Bear; maternal grandparents Oliver & Mary (Little Boy) Jealous of Him; sister Cecelia Sitting Bear; brother, Severt Sitting Bear; brother-in-law Ron Janis; sister-in-law Patty Sitting Bear; nephews Ryan Janis, Leslie Lafferty Jr, and Little Joe Makes Good; nieces Rosemary Sitting Bear, Gail Shot With Arrow, and Stevie Rae Makes Good; granddaughter Tyrena Brown Bull; and grandson Scotty Brown Bull.
Pallbearers will be Gail Kelly, Arianna Standing Soldier, Leon “Fudd” Poor Bear, Louie Little Whiteman Jr, Donavon Shot With Arrow, and Rob C Janis.
