Scottsbluff Police Department is actively investigating a serious assault that occurred Monday at approximately 10:25 pm.
The assault is believed to have occurred in the area of 5thAvenue and East Overland and left a 15-year-old juvenile with a life threatening, penetrating wound to the chest.
Anyone with security camera footage in that area is encouraged to contact the Scottsbluff Police Department. The name of the victim will not be released at this time.
Additionally, the Scottsbluff Police Department is aware of a vehicle pursuit led by the Nebraska State Patrol that occurred around this same time, and in this same area as the assault. The Department is investigating the possibility that the two incidents are related.
Scottsbluff Police is aware of a video circulating on Facebook showing a foot pursuit around the time of this incident. The suspect involved in the foot pursuit is not the same person as the victim from the assault, and sustained minor injuries during his apprehension. The suspect in the foot pursuit was a juvenile, and was transported to RWMC for medical treatment and released to the Nebraska State Patrol for admittance to a juvenile detention facility on pending charges related to the vehicle pursuit.
