SD Congressman Dusty Johnson Running For 3rd Term

South Dakota Republican Congressman Dusty Johnson has announced he’s seeking reelection to a third term.

The 45-year-old former Public Utilities Commissioner and chief of staff under Governor Dennis Daugaard touted his conservative record and effectiveness on agriculture policy in making the announcement Monday.

Johnson is facing a primary challenge from State Representative Taffy Howard, who says Johnson isn’t conservative enough. He has over $2 million in campaign funds at his disposal, while Howard has only $114,000 in cash on hand.

South Dakota Democrats have not announced a candidate for November’s general election.
