SD Girls State Basketball: RC Stevens, St. Thomas More To Play For Championships

Southwest South Dakota will have two girls teams playing for state championships on Saturday.

Rapid City Stevens used strong 1st and 3rd quarters to get past Sioux Falls Jefferson 54-43 in the Class AA semifinals. It’ll be the fifth championship appearance in school history for the Raiders who have to win it all.

They will match up with Sioux Falls O’Gorman who took care of Harrisburg 50-37.

Rapid City Central will play Sioux Fall Lincoln in the 7th place game after losing to Sioux Falls Washington 46-33 in the consolation semifinals.

St. Thomas More built a 15 point 4th quarter lead and pulled off the upset of #1 Wagner in the Class A semifinals 48-35 and will try for their 7th state championship against Hamlin.

Red Cloud blew past Lakota Tech in the consolation semifinals 64-44 and the Tatanka dropped into the 7th place game against Sioux Falls Christian. Red Cloud will battle Dakota Valley for 5th place.

A 4th quarter rally wasn’t enough for Wall in the Class B tourney as they lost to Aberdeen Christian 60-56 and will play White River for 7th place.
