SD State Track Meet Thurs-Sat In Sioux Falls


    The South Dakota High School Track Meet begins today and runs through Saturday with all 3 classes in Sioux Falls.

     For the Hot Springs girls, Carlie DeBoer is in 3 individual events – HJ, TJ and 300 hurdles – Kiera Allen is in the HJ and 100 hurdles, and Jaylen Nachtigall is in both hurdle races. The Lady Bison also have the 4×100 and 4×400 relays at state.

     The Hot Springs boys have 3 relay teams at state – 4×400, 4×800, and the 1600 sprint medley. 

      Russell Warren and Kayden Hansen both qualified in both hurdles events while Matt Close is in the 800 and Carl Massa in the 400. 

       Pine Ridge didn’t qualify anyone for state this year while Red Cloud and Lakota Tech had only girls. 

     Red Cloud Girls has 2 competitors in 3 events each – Ashlan Bount and Jade Ecoffey – and they’re both in the 1600 and 3200 with Ecoffey also in the 800 and Blount in the 300 hurdles. Rarity Cournoyer is in the 3200 and the 4×800 relay is also there

    Lakota Tech has just one girl, Taylor Byerly, but she’s in 3 events – the 400, 800, and HJ.

    In Class B, the Edgemont girls are represented by the 4×100 relay, Bridget Neville in the 400, and Morgan Peterson in both hurdles.  The Edgemont boys have their 4×800 relay, Ryker Howell in the 100 and 200, and Braden Peterson in the 400 and LJ. 

      There’s just 1 event with finals on the track today, 3200 relay, with preliminaries in the 100 and 400 as well as the sprint medley relay.

      Field events are spread out by class with the AA boys LJ and discus, AA girls PV, shot put, and LJ, the Class A boys HJ and discus, Class A girls TJ, Class B girls shot put and HJ, and the boys Class B PV, discus, and TJ making up today’s schedule.
