Secretary of State Bob Evnen is encouraging Nebraskans to register to vote on National Voter Registration Day,ย September 17. Nebraska is home toย 1,240,389ย registered voters.
โVoting is a critical part of our democracy,โ Secretary Evnen said. โNebraskans can make their voices heard by voting in the upcoming November 5 general election.โ
To avoid duplicate voter registration applications, Nebraskans are encouraged to first check whether they are registered to vote in Nebraska on the stateโsย VoterCheckย website. If they are not properly registered or their voter registration is not current, they can complete a voter registration applicationย online. Nebraskans can also register to vote by mail, at a state agency (DMV, DHHS, Dept. of Ed.), via a deputy registrar or via a personal agent.
Nebraskans should be aware of the two general election voter registration deadlines that are coming up in October.
- October 18ย โ Last day to register to vote online (by midnight), by mail (must be postmarked by Oct. 18), at a state agency (DMV, DHHS, Dept. of Ed.), via deputy registrar or via personal agent.
- October 25ย โ Last day to register to vote at county election offices.
Voters should be aware of Nebraskaโs new voter ID law. Nebraska voters will be required to present an acceptable photo ID before casting a ballot in Nebraskaโs election. More information is available atย voterID.nebraska.gov.
