Funeral services for 74-year old Sherrill “Sherry” Zephier are Monday, Jan 8, 2024 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD, with Fr Ron Seminara, SJ, and Deacon Bill White officiating.

Burial is at St Stephen’s Catholic Cemetery in Kyle

A one-night wake service starts Sunday, Jan 7, at 2:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle

Sherrill Gail Zephier was born on July 27, 1949 in Gordon, NE to Harvey and Colleen (Hunter) Zephier. Sherrill made her journey peacefully in her home in Kyle, SD on Dec 29, 2023.

Sherry grew up in Kyle, SD attending grade school at Kyle Day School and High School at Holy Rosary Mission (Red Cloud). Sherry married Martin Aron “Snus” Thunder Hawk and from this marriage, two sons were born. 

Sherry was very outgoing. She kept up with all the family, loved visiting, beading, riding horses, and her nicknacks. Sherry kept in touch with all her friends and relatives, staying close with Donna Richards, Gayle Vocu, Margie Janis, and Penny Downham.

Sherry received her GED, became a VISTA Worker, and then a Teacher’s Aide at Little Wound School, She was also a BIA Dispatcher.

Sherry lived most of her life in Rapid City working for Goodwill and the Cornerstone Mission before moving home to help her son Stevie care for her mom after her Dad passed away. 

Sherry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sherry is survived by her two sons Martin Steven and Perry Lynn (Julie) Thunder Hawk; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Pam Standing Soldier and Perry, Jeanean and Corrine Zephier; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Harvey & Colleen Zephier; sister-in-law Marilyn Faye; nephews Percy and Jason; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Harold Hunter, Ed Jumping Eagle, Stevie Ray Marshall, Kookie Ramos, Donovan Shots, Ryan Jumping Eagle, Lloyd Helper, Jim Hunter, and Jack Janis.

Alternate Wilbur Hunter and Morris Bull Bear Jr.
