A 57 year old man was shot Friday night in Pine Ridge during the Oglala Lakota Nation Pow Wow.
On Saturday tribal officials released information on the shooting that sent the injured man to Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City following initial treatment at the Pine Ridge Emergency room.
The Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety said that the shooting occurred during a
confrontation between several males.
The victim who has not been identified was shot several times but his wounds did not appear to be life threatening.
One man who was considered the suspect in the shooting was detained as he tried to leave the event, which was shut down after the shooting but resumed on Saturday with increased security in place.
Its believed that there is no danger to the public
