Shopping Underway In Chadron’s Shop With A Cop

The Chadron Police Department’s 2021 Shop with a Cop program is nearing its conclusion.

Officer Derek Bauer, coordinating the effort this year, said Monday night that the members of the department had just started the actual shopping process.

Bauer says the goal is to help as many kids as possible buy Christmas presents, so the officers have to be careful to make sure there’s enough money for a given trip.

During the holiday season, the Chadron police use large empty water jugs from Culligan as donation jars, but Bauer says donations are welcome any time of the year.

The Chadron Police Department has also teams with Wahlstrom Ford, which has its own Toys for Tots program that gives a free oil change for donations of toys. That program has its distribution this morning at the dealership.
