Day one of the Nebraska state volleyball tournament is in the books and one panhandle team was sent packing when Sidney fell to Norris in a sweep 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.
The other panhandle squad, Bayard, is in action at 4:00 pm this afternoon against high powered Lincoln Lutheran. The Tigers are in Lincoln for the first time since 1992 and have just one win to their name in 1990.
The Bayard/Lutheran winner gets Oakland-Craig or Southwest in the semifinals.
– The regional volleyball semifinals are tonight in South Dakota with winners advancing to the SoDak 16 and a shot at the state tournament.
In area action, Rapid City Christian and St. Thomas More meet in one 8A semi while Belle Fourche and Hill City will play in the other.
In 7A, Lakota Tech faces Little Wound and Pine Ridge challenges Winner.
