Sidney Alan Hammond was born on September 18, 1981 in Pine Ridge, SD to Ramona Vocu. Sidney made his journey to the Spirit World on January 26, 2025 at his home in Pine Ridge, SD.
Sidney was the light of his mother’s life. Sidney attended elementary school at Wolf Creek School where he graduated 8th grade in 1996. He also attended high school at Oelrichs & Hot Springs and then moved on to other adventures.
In 2009, he left to California with his best friend Sean to live in the mountains and tend weed crops. Sid really loved the mountains and made many new friends while there. He stayed there until 2011 and then came home to his mom. Sid helped to take care of his mom until her passing last year. Since then, he started working at Frosty’s as a “bud tender” and truly loved it. He was doing something he enjoyed, got to work with some of his closest friends, made many new friends and also met his special friend, Kitty Kat. Sidney was a simple guy who loved his mom, the Broncos, weed, and poker.
He touched more lives than he ever realized and will be deeply missed by all family & friends. He’s with his mama now.
Sidney is survived by his aunts, Lucy Vocu, Leona Jewette, Monica Vocu, and Gayle Vocu; uncles, Tony Vocu, Richard Vocu, and John Vocu: special friend, Kat Brewer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sidney was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Vocu; grandparents, Leo W. Vocu, & Loretta Vocu; uncles, Tom Vocu, and William Vocu; and aunt, Kathy Vocu.
Urn Bearers are Kellen Trueblood, Joe Catches, Maverick Valandra, and Sean Hawk.
Honorary Pallbearers will be All Frosty’s Employees, Customers & Friends, Wolf Creek 8th Grade graduating class of 1996, Pru Hawk & Family, Lessert Family, Stabnow Family, Perkins Family, Jason & Jarrod Cordier & Family, Betsy Janis & Family, and All Friends & Relatives.
Memorial Services: 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 6th, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall in Pine Ridge, SD.
