The Class D-6 playoff bracket was revealed Saturday morning and two northwest Nebraska teams have qualified for the playoffs and will meet in the first round. Hay Springs qualified as the two seed while Sioux County qualifies as the 15 seed.
Sioux County gets one of the last spots with Pawnee City opting down and being ineligible for the playoffs. The Warriors started off the season with two wins then fell to Potter-Dix in a shootout. Their other two wins came against Minatare and Cody-Kilgore but fell in their regular season finale to Crawford 60-35. The Warriors finished the regular season with a 4-4 record.
Hay Springs continued where they left off from last season going undefeated and are coming into the playoffs on a 14 game regular season winning streak. Other than their season opening 28-14 win over Paxton, no one has come close to beating the Hawks.
Sioux County and Hay Springs have played this season with the Hawks winning 69-19 at home.
The winner of the game will face either seven seed Silver Lake or 10 seed Ansley-Litchfield on Friday, November 8th.
Kickoff for Sioux County at Hay Springs is set for 2pm on Friday, November 1st.
