Jadon Skavdahl went 2-2 at the Garden County Invite for the Sioux County matmen and finished in fourth place in the 120-weight class.
Skavdahl opened the tournament with an 8-7 decision victory over Joseph Beeson of Sedgwick County-Fleming before getting pinned in the semi-finals in 23 seconds by Sutherland’s Luke Harper. The loss sent him to the consolation bracket, where he pinned Mitchell’s Colton Marghreim in 2:03 to advance to the third-place match. He faced Beeson again for the bronze medal, and this time Beeson earned the 7-1 decision victory.
Sioux County’s other wrestler at 120, Baxter Reece, went 1-2 at the tournament. He picked up an 8-4 win over Mitchell’s Marghreim in the quarterfinals but was pinned in the semi-finals and consolation semis. Bayard’s Nathanial Barker pinned Reece in 1:49, and Beeson pinned him in 29 seconds to end Reece’s day.
Jesse Dunn was 2-2 on the day in the 152-weight class. He began the tournament pinning Sutherland’s Ryker Copeland in 59 seconds before getting pinned himself in 3:44 by Hyannis’ Ezekiel Heaton in the quarterfinals. Dunn pinned his consolation round two opponent, Trevor Laber of Perkins County, in 1:55 but lost round three by a pin to Adam Hill of Garden County in 2:35.
