At 9:05 AM on Tuesday, Great Plains Fire Information Blog reported a small fire burning 3 miles southwest of Rockerville, SD or 16 miles southwest of Rapid City.
The fire, known as the Beretta Fire, is reportedly still active but has only burned less than a quarter of an acre.
Weather will almost certainly be a factor and concern in containment of this new fire. Gusty winds are forecasted through Thursday for Rockerville and the Black Hills area remains exceptionally dry and in high risk of fire danger.
Federal and local resources are currently responding to the Beretta Fire.
Update: The cause of the Beretta Fire has been confirmed to be from people.
