Tuesday Night was senior night at Hampton Softball Field as the Chadron Cardinals hosted Gering. The Cardinals had a good first inning before falling to the Bulldogs 16-0.
Gering got the first run of the game in the top of the first with Jacelyn Brown scoring. In the bottom of the first Chadron did get a leadoff single by Addie Gruver but the next at bat she was doubled up at first after the pitcher for Gering snagged a line drive and threw Gruver out trying to tag up.
Gering pounced in the second inning with four runs to make it 5-0. Then poured it on in the third inning with five more. The fourth and final inning saw Gering have their best inning with six runs to finish off the 16-0 win.
Chadron had four hits on the night to go along with a couple walks.
Chadron drops to 10-12 on the season and will visit Ogallala on Thursday to take on McCook and Cozad.
The four seniors playing their last game at Hampton Field were Averielle Sager, Jodean Chesley, Chloe Wright, and Sarah LeBere.
